Collections following a Bank Holiday are normally a day late, but this may differ, particularly over Christmas and the New Year. Collection times can be variable, so SDC recommend that bags should be left out by 7am.
There is also a garden waste collection.

Knockholt Station is about two-thirds of a mile towards Orpington along the Old London Road from Badgers Rise (about a 15 minute walk) and has services to London and Sevenoaks.

Knockholt railway station is actually in Halstead. When it was opened in the 1860s it was called Halstead but people confused it with Halstead in Essex so they renamed the station Knockholt, which is a few miles away.
The Railway Children
Also some say the tunnel and steep sidings at Knockholt station were the inspiration for Edith Nesbit’s The Railway Children. Edith Nesbit lived at Halstead Hall for three years during the 1870s.
There are numerous footpaths and walks around Badgers Mount.
Explore the local woods or walk to Halstead or go further into Shoreham or Well Hill.

There are two letter boxes in Badgers Mount – one in Badgers Road and one next to the bus stop in Old London Road near Badgers Rise and the footpath linking to Orpington Bypass.
There are also two on the Halstead border which are fairly close and have an afternoon collection - one in Shoreham Lane near the roundabout and one on the corner of Watercroft Road and Old London Road (Heverswood).

The Badgers Mount Post Office and local store in Old London Road closed in 2004.
In Halstead, Hancocks Newsagents sells newspapers and magazines and a variety of confectionery, groceries etc. Halstead Post Office moved into Hancocks in 2014.
Polhill Garden Centre (see their local business advert) has a farm shop and a butchers along with many other companies in their Shopping Village.
It's not always easy to find a property in Badgers Mount as many houses only have house names rather than numbers - this Badgers Mount houses locator/map can help.
The Memorial Hall (village hall), at the junction of Highland Road and Orpington Bypass, is the centre for social activities, and is available for hire for meetings, parties etc.

The KCC mobile library van stops in the Memorial Hall car park on alternate Thursdays, from 11.10am to 11.45am, during the coffee mornings.
There is a weekly Thursday coffee morning held in the Memorial Hall.
