Knockholt railway station is actually in Halstead. When it was opened in the 1860s it was called Halstead but people confused it with Halstead in Essex so they renamed the station Knockholt, which is a few miles away.
Also some say the tunnel and steep sidings at Knockholt station were the inspiration for Edith Nesbit’s The Railway Children. Edith Nesbit lived at Halstead Hall for three years during the 1870s.
There are numerous footpaths and walks around Badgers Mount.
